about

This has been a collection of music I have been waiting to release on the label since day one. We have been fans of Karl Willebrant for quite awhile. His ambient and multi-instrumental work expresses his spectacular range as an artist. The day I received his submission to the label I knew right then there was a great chance we would be releasing it. As the listener journeys through “Scott was here” you do get a sense of being alone with our thoughts. The tracks flow nicely into and out of each other while telling the story the listener can interpret for their own. The accompanying artwork in the physical CD package is from Ida Halliday. The album inspiration came from these photos and assist the mind in experiencing the settings where those were taken. The whole 23 minute excursion is pure bliss.

Hopefully you can enjoy.

Willebrant: "Most of this work was produced early mornings and evenings as I found I was most in tune with the ideas of the narrative, alone and quiet with very little activity going on in the world around me. I feel this is reflected in the music, I try to capture the solace of my surroundings. With the concept of the cover photo (Scott was here), I've tried to capture the intention that someone was once here and has since moved on, leaving behind a sense of yearning for a bygone time. On the flip side, it is also quite fitting, albeit unintentional, as our recent prime minister in Australia (Scott Morrison) was recently voted out of office, which has since spanned some relief across the nation and left us with a sense of calm. Perhaps it’s tongue in cheek…. Interpret it as you will."

These 9 vignettes are a continuous work of a personal and intimate autobiographical collection of sounds, a moment in place, reflection, and contemplation inspired by the photograph 'Scott was here' by Ida Halliday

"'Scott Was Here' is 23 minutes of soft tranquil beauty. A dreamy and reflective soundtrack to the quiet moments in a noisy and hectic world. Great album." - Fog Songs fogsongs.blogspot.com/2023/04/bandcamp-recommendations-apr-23.html
